How do you explain to someone the magic of this place, De NieuwenHof. To be honest, at first we were not interested in the 1917 farmhouse with horse stables and 2 hectares of land. We were looking for a characteristic building for the B&B, but we felt it was too faraway from civilisation. A friend kept insisting, “Go have a look!” Ultimately, we did… and we fell in love instantly. We looked at each other and knew; this is the place. Everything that makes us happy comes together here and we are happy to share it with our guests.
Simplicity and pure enjoyment
The love for nature and the environment is in our genes. At De NieuwenHof we give our own interpretation to this. Plants, animals, and sustainability come first. In the garden you will be treated to a wealth of delights; apples, pears, cherries, plums, berries, blackberries, nuts… But that’s not all. The vegetable garden also grows the necessary vitamins, everything organic. We prefer to share this wealth with our guests. So feel free to pick an apple from the tree or pull a carrot out of the ground and taste…That’s what we call simplicity and pure enjoyment.
From Pilot Light to Full Flame
For me, Lia, working means creating something with passion, in a positive way. After 30 years of teaching, my passion for the profession had disappeared. There was only a pilot light left. This got me thinking. It creaked and groaned. My dream, which had slumbered inside me for years, suddenly spoke very clearly. My own B&B! With this dream, my pilot light became a full flame again, and my passion was unstoppable.
